A new pea variety has been developed at the Federal Research Centre
for Horticultural Plant Breeding, Ahrensburg. It is specially suited to
freeze-drying but also for deep-freezing. 'Sublima' was licensed in
West Germany in October 1982. The main features of Sublima are high
yield of dark green peas, a high sensory quality and resistance to com-
mon wilt (Fusarium oxysporum) f. pisi. race 1). The green peas have a
dark green seedcoat. Intensive analyses showed that this characteristic
is part of the manifold effects produced by the recessive gene dp.
A complete description was published in Gartenbauwissenschaft
45:175-184, 1980, Verlag Eugen Ulmer, Stuttgart.
